architecture and the vineyards of the Médoc and Bordeaux wine

you an excellent base to enjoy & explore this exceptional
region. Set amongst the forests of maritime pines which reach
down to the seashore Lacanau Océan boasts a range of activities.
The endless golden sandy beaches where you can always find
a spot to yourself. Excellent cycle paths weave there way
through the forests. International Golf Course. A choice of
water sports on Lac de Lacanau. Walking or Horse Riding. Surfing,
The Sooruz Lacanau Pro in August. The Medoc wine region is
just a short drive. The historic City of Bordeaux bursting
with history and culture is only 40 minutes away. Lacanau’s

Information: With a beachfront that allows you to check
the surf from the car, an ASP contest since 1979 and it’s
proximity to Bordeaux. Lacanau is the Gironde Surfing Centre.
On the 2000 hectare Lacanau lake you can windsurf or sail.
You can learn to water ski or kite surf. There are pedal boat,
rowing boat, canoe or motor boat rentals. Plenty of fishing
on the lake or sea. There is an International Golf Course,
riding centres, several tennis courts, a bowling alley, a
cinema and nightclubs. A casino open everyday all year round.
A weekly market on Wednesdays where you can buy fresh local
produce.
Not
too far away is the Bassin d’Arcachon, a tidal lake which
is a haven for birds, which you can observe in Le Teich Bird
Nature Reserve or if you prefer, boat trips are offered, some
around bird island. The Bassin is Europe’s No.1 Oyster-producing
region, so no need to say that you’ll find many restaurants
offering delicious menu’s with a beautiful view. At Cap-ferret
right on the tip of the peninsular, you can climb the steps
of the lighthouse to take in breathtaking Views. Climb to
the top of Pilat Dune. A National Heritage Site. At 105 metres
high, it is Europe's highest dune. From the top you get a
sweeping view of the lake, the Atlantic and the vast pine
