Chevalet,

2 bathrooms - Washing machine -Satellite TV - Shared pool - Shops nearby- Bars
nearby - Close to River. At the end of a tree lined drive, Moulin de Samaran is
4.5 kms from L'Isle-en-Dodon. Substantially re-built in its original style during

and straddling its mill leat, is surrounded by a small formal garden and 18 acres
of park and woodland which constitute its river island. Comprising 3 gites, sun
terrace and poolhouse the Moulin de Samaran is the place on which to close the
door on the rest of the world and relax. The greater part of the Domaine de Samaran
is the Isle de Samaran. CHEVALET is on the island side of the main millhouse and
is approached over the bridge from the main drive. The fertile valley of the River
Save has probably changed little since Wellington's army is believed to have marched
along what is now the D17 on its way to the Battle of Toulouse. Had the soldiers
stopped near Anan, they would have found peace and quiet at the secluded Moulin
de Samaran. Mostly re-built during the 1990s, the Moulin is now a beautiful watermill
with wheel room, tranquil millpond, swimming pool, sauna and its own river island.
Nestling on the banks of the River Save and situated in 22 acres of private woodland
and meadow, plus a small formal garden, the Moulin is located 4.5 km from the
town of L'Isle-en-Dodon and is one hour's drive south west of Toulouse. Managed
by the resident owners, Moulin de Samaran offers four unique properties for holiday
rental, weekend breaks and longer lets throughout the year. It is the perfect
location for either a peaceful "do nothing" holiday, or as an ideal base to explore
the sights, history and gastronomy on offer throughout the Midi-Pyrénées. CLICK

Local
Information The area around Soulillac is known as Perigord Noir. Here the
foliage of oaks and chestnuts turns dark as the sun sets. It is the home of truffles,
the "black diamonds" of French cooking. Above riverside villages on the Dordogne,
rise superb chateaux such as Biron, Beynac, Montfort and Castlenaud. Other exquisite
villages such as Salignac-Eyvigues are guarded by powerful ancient fortresses.
Lesser rivers are overlooked by equally delightful architecture. Medieval Belves
with its 7 belfries, perches on a hill above the valley of the Nauze. Little Saint-Cybarnet
with its gabled houses is washed by the Ceou as is even tinier Bouzic.
The
area also embraces some of the finest Bastides of the department, Domme, Monpazier
and Villefranche-du-Perigord. The area also includes remarkable prehistoric sites:
Les Eyzies, which the French call the capital of prehistory; Saint-Cirq-du-Bugue
where the cave of the sorcerer contains engravings carved 15,000 years ago; Le
Bugue where a cave only discovered in 1951, exhibits drawings of bison, bears
and horses; and Limeuil where in 1909 a cave was excavated on whose walls are
some 200 engravings from 10,000 years before the Christian era. There is so much
to do and see that you will want to return again and again. If you visit the Souillac
Country Club website you can find out more about the Region, Holiday Rentals,

Figuier,
Anan ,Midi-Pyrenees, Sleeps up to 6: At the end of a tree lined drive, Moulin
de Samaran is 4.5 kms from L'Isle-en-Dodon. Substantially re-built in its original
style during the 1990s and dating back to 1728, the watermill on the banks of
the River Save and straddling its mill leat, is surrounded by a small formal garden
and 18 acres of park and woodland which constitute its river island. Comprising
3 gites, sun terrace and poolhouse the Moulin de Samaran is the place on which
to close the door on the rest of the world and relax. Covering the entire top
floor of the Mill, FIGUIER is a spacious gite having good views across the river
and valley from all the rooms.3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms - Washing machine - Satellite
TV -Shared pool - Shops nearby - Bars nearby - Close to River.
Local Area: Our local village ANAN is half a kilometre north, along
the D17. A quiet place with the church, Mairie and village school grouped around
the square-cum-car park. The nearest shops are in L'ISLE-EN-DODON four
and a half kilometres away. It is an interesting bastide town, with its fortified
XIVth church where Wellington is thought to have stayed overnight on his way to
the Battle of oulouse.Opposite the church is the Mairie and market halls. An odd
building which has been described as 'a railway station in search of a railway'!
The lively MARKET arrives SATURDAY and augments the 3 bakers, 3 newsagents, 2
banks, 2 greengrocers, 3 chemists, 2 butchers, wine shop, 6 bars and a post office.
There are also two supermarkets, one a Casino convenience store in the centre
of town and an Ecomarche on the road to Toulouse, past the petrol station. For
culture vultures, then TOULOUSE is a must. The Rose City is a colourful
metropolis which has not suffered at the hands of modern developers. Sit in the
Capitole (different markets up to 3 times a week), have a coffee and people watch.
We can recommend a short self- conducted WALKING TOUR starting from the CAPITOLE.
Taken at a leisurely pace, this is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the
style of the city. More information at owners' website. CLICK
