Provence
is bordered by the Alps to the east and the Rhône River to the west, with
the Mediterranean Sea providing its southern border. It has an unusually varied
physical aspect, with landscapes ranging from fertile plains in the Rhône valley,
to mountains in the east (notably Mont Ventoux, the Luberon and the Alpilles)
and marshlands in the south (the Camargue).
The
climate of Provence is typically Mediterranean, warm and dry. The Mistral is a
strong, cold wind from the north that occurs mostly in the winter and spring .
A
great deal of rosé wine is produced under the Côtes de Provence appellation, using
some of the typical grapes of southern France, Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and
Cinsault. It is often at its best young. The other Appelations of Provence are
Bandol AOC, Les Baux de Provence AOC, Bellet AOC, Cassis AOC, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence
AOC, Coteaux Varois AOC and Palette AOC.

to visit in Provence include - Aigues-Mortes - Aix-en-Provence - Alpilles - Arles
- The Camargue - Luberon National Park and Toulon. Toulon is the préfecture (capital)
of the Var département, in the former province of Provence. Toulon has an airport
with several low cost airlines flying to it.

is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc, dining
room area seating 8 people, sun room and luxury bathroom. There is also a fully
equipped newly renovated independent studio with kitchen, lounge leading to patio
doors - garden, bathroom and mezannine with double bed. The garden overlooks the
hills and the village of Aups, it is private and enclosed, there are electric
gates leading to a private drive which parks up to five cars. The garden has mature
olive trees, cherry tree, mature almond tree, small water feature, a beautiful
stone surround for the private pool and decking area. This villa is only five
minutes walk to the medieval village of Aups which has beautiful Provencal shops,
butchers, bakers, antique shops, highly recommended, cafes, bars and regular sat/weds
markets. More information Aups has many interesting mediavel features and
architecture and a beautiful market twice weekly on weds and sat mornings selling
local produce. The Gorges de Verdon is 30 minutes away which is world famous (there
are many watersports/activites). Le Lac de St Croix is 15 minutes away and has
small beaches and villages nearby. Draguinan is one of the larger villages nearby
which provides an abundance of shopping and leisurely activities

Espougnac near Aix-en-Provence: Villa with private pool, sleeps 6,
near Aix-en-Provence.Situated in the countryside on a quiet lane, 3k from the
village of Meyrargues and shops, 15k from the lively, historical market town of
Aix-en-Provence and close to the hilltop villages of the Luberon, within striking
distance of Arles, Avignon, the Camargue, and the seaside, the house is ideally
located for a holiday. The villa is modern on one level and has 3 double bedrooms
(2 double beds, 2 singles), a large bathroom, a separate shower room and 2 toilets.
